Rishikesh, 6th July 2019: State Minister and Vice President of Lal Bahadur Shastri Lal Bahadur Shastri Sugarcane Farmer Institute Shri Neeraj Shahi ji visited Parmarth Niketan, met and took blessings from its President H.H. Pujya Swami Chidananda Saraswati ji Maharaj.

While speaking to the State Minister Shri Neeraj Shahi ji, Pujya Swamiji focused his discussions on tree plantations in the premises of the schools, madrasas, gurukuls, universities and colleges in Uttar Pradesh. He said that through the medium of tree plantations, we can instill and encourage the message of social unity, coordination, goodwill and environment protection among the people society.

Pujya Swamiji shared that “everyone should together contribute towards the development and enrichment of the nation. It is everyone’s duty to pay special attention towards protection of the environment because more pollution will in turn lead to numerous types of diseases. Hygiene and clean water is essential for the GDP, as well as the health and prosperity of our country.”
Pujya Swamiji said that after harvesting the cane crop, the farmers burn residues of sugarcane for the purpose of sowing wheat, which in turn causes excessive air pollution. He said that the farmers should understand that at least 3 to 4 tons of leaves are obtained from one acre of sugarcane. They should not burn it, but instead as a solution, they should bury them in the soil, so that they could be converted into compost that is a natural fertilizer and will increase the nutrient value of the land.

The Honorable State Minister for Home Affairs had a holy dip in and performed puja (worship) of Mother Ganga with Vedic Mantras, and took prasad (blessed meal) at the Ashram. He also stayed for the divine Ganga Aarti; the Honorable Minister felt very enchanted by the entire experience. He was deeply influenced from his heart seeing the devotion, customary traditions, spirituality and dedication of the Rishikumars.

Hon’ble Minister of State, Neeraj Shahi told Swami Ji MaharajPujya Swamiji how he wished that the waters of Gomti too became as the River Ganga in Rishikesh, and how amazing it would be to do a similar Aarti on the banks of Gomti. Pujya Swamiji informed him about the efforts of the Gomti Action Parivar, through which several programs and plantation campaigns had been done for mass awareness. He ensured his full blessings and support to revive these efforts and support the vision of the Honble Chief Minister of UP Shri Yogi Adityananthji to build an Uttam Pradesh, one that is clean, green and serene for all.
