The Education Cell of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha organized a prestigious National Seminar on “Moral Education in the National Education Policy” at the Conference Hall of Lok Bhawan (formerly Raj Bhawan), Dehradun Cantonment, Uttarakhand. The seminar focused on integrating moral values, character development, patriotism, and India’s rich cultural heritage into the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP).
The event was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, as the Chief Guest. Parmarth Peethadhishwar and President of Parmarth Niketan, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, delivered the keynote address. The seminar was presided over by Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi, Vir Chakra, National President of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha.
In his inspiring address, Pujya Swamiji emphasized that the true purpose of education extends far beyond employment. “Education must nurture individuals who are truthful, compassionate, value-driven, and committed to the service of the nation,” he said. He stressed that without ethics, service, environmental consciousness, coexistence, and spiritual values, development remains incomplete. Drawing upon India’s ancient Gurukul tradition, he highlighted that Indian education has always harmonized knowledge with values, and called for the National Education Policy to be rooted in India’s cultural wisdom while preparing students for global responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh stated that the real strength of any nation lies not only in its military might but also in the character, discipline, and moral values of its citizens. He described the National Education Policy as a visionary initiative that restores Indian values to the heart of education and urged educational institutions to incorporate moral education into everyday learning.
Distinguished speakers including Lt. Gen. Ashwini Kumar Bakshi, Maj. Gen. (Dr.) G.K. Thapliyal, Maj. Gen. Prof. (Dr.) O.P. Soni, Shri Rajan Chhibber, and Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Pawar shared insightful perspectives on value-based education, leadership, discipline, and nation-building.
The seminar witnessed the participation of educators, ex-servicemen, students, social leaders, and representatives from various institutions. The speakers unanimously emphasized that the success of the National Education Policy depends not merely on academic excellence but on building character, shaping responsible citizens, and fostering a strong, ethical, and compassionate nation.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen India’s future by integrating moral values, service, patriotism, and cultural heritage into education, thereby nurturing a self-reliant, value-based, and globally responsible India.
