Inauguration of Upgraded Computer Centre at Parmarth
“Education means not only theoretical knowledge, but also learning mental, physical, emotional, intellectual and scientific development.” So declared HH Pujya Swamiji Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, at the recent opening of the modern and well-equipped computer lab at the ashram’s divine Gurukul, a place of scholarship and inspiration for disadvantaged and/or orphaned youth. He added, “By surfing the web pages and the Ved pages, this centre will help them bridge the gap between computer and culture between technology and traditions.”

Featuring a dozen work stations with enhanced audio-visual capabilities, the concept for the new facility is to provide a structured, grounded environment in which the students’ minds can expand and their goals unfold, all with their future needs very much in attendance.
Pujya Sadhviji Bhagwati Saraswati, President of the Divine Shakti Foundation and a passionate advocate for the education and empowerment of women and children throughout the world, expressed delight at the opportunities that the new center provides, stating that “21st-Century children need holistic education. While they need to be rooted in Sanskrit and our spiritual-cultural values they also must be knowledgeable about English as well as computers. This computer centre is a place to provide that understanding and knowledge, and to give the students the tools necessary to engage with people and institutions across the globe.”
Joining Pujya Swamiji and Pujya Sadhviji for the opening were Bharat Mitra, Founder-President of Organic India and American motivational speaker and author, Richard Williams, better known as “Prince EA”, whose commitment to awakening the untapped potential of everyone forms the basis of his renowned seminars and courses, and other guests from around the world.
According to Bharat Mitra, “Children are a huge part of the immense capability of India, and of the change and growth that is taking place in this country. It’s important that our future generations are part of that growth and change by linking them to both information and inspiration.” The centre, he felt, is an integral part of that link.
After a traditional blessing and lighting of the lamp, Pujya Swamiji reiterated and confirmed his commitment to protect the very nature of education. “Through education, the external growth of children is linked with their internal growth. Whenever we provide that education, we foster this growth.”
